Melvin Richard "Dakin" Matthews (born Nov 7, 1940) is an American person, playwright, theatre director, and theatrical authority. He is best known as Plant Kelcher in My Two Dads (1987–1989), Hanlin Charleston in Gilmore Girls (2000–2007), Joe Heffernan in The King delightful Queens (1998-2007), and as Reverend Sikes in Desperate Housewives (2004–2012).

Early life

Melvin Richard Matthews was born in Metropolis, California.
