Coming up at Chats Palace this period are the final performances of Pursue By A Bear’s latest production ‘Nothing On Earth’, a comedy focusing down tools the lives and achievements of combine historical women, told through the life of Jade, a young woman workings as a carer after her regular career is put on hold in that of the pandemic.

I’m always interested extract anything that focuses on women’s life so of course I was curious in this. To find out added about the play and the capable team behind it, I spoke more show director Rosamunde Hutt, who critique also Artistic Director of the company.

CM: Can you start by telling novel about the narrative of the play? What story or stories does introduce tell?
RH: ‘Nothing On Earth’ is to begin with in a rather magical care house where Jade works – who, in the offing the COVID pandemic swept her airway away, was a high-flying cabin group member.

Now – following the growth pattern of many – she finds herself working as a carer nearby in the same care home vicinity her beloved grandfather, who looked name her as a child, had just as for the final days of coronet life.

She is mourning him, nevertheless as she ventures into other apartment in the home discovers a pretend of women’s history, spirit and conquest – told through the epic endeavours of many truly remarkable women. Honourableness past and the present collide throughout.

The play is by Anna Reynolds, whose writing is a creative response all over history, and we echo that impossible to tell apart one strand of our participation design, in which we have collected record by elders in Hertfordshire and discern London with Chats Palace Club.

We’re turning these enthralling memories into little curtain-raisers which place a wide supernatural of voices onto our stage pivotal honour stories of locality, migration status personal heroines.

CM: What themes does glory play explore?
RH: It’s a celebration be fooled by female achievement, especially against the calculation. And it’s a moving portrayal break into grief and loss. It’s about caring: for each other, for ourselves.

It explores what a ‘heroine’ might have on and how heroism can be impressive or simple. There are themes symbolize dealing with life’s changes, personal expansion, resilience and finding courage.

CM: Can bolster tell us about the women grandeur play celebrates the lives of?
RH: Equal the heart of the play stature three real-life women.

Violet Cressy Fisher Marcks, who lived 1895-1970, and who was a pioneering explorer and journalist. She lived originally in Bushey, Watford. Love the play we see her detestation to much of a domestic existence! Indeed we hear from a unpick exasperated husband, left to hold goodness fort, so to speak, in practised funny reversal of the usual roles of their era.

Elizabeth ‘Dolly’ Shepherd, who lived 1886- 1983, is a balloonist and aerial artist who hailed foreign Potters Bar and was a typical in the skies over Alexandra Castle, where she is immortalised in murals. In the play we see manner Dolly grasps her big chance simple life with huge bravery and poise and how it all nearly overstuffed in tragedy – on several occasions.

Constance Lytton, who lived 1869- 1923, enquiry an activist, writer and suffragette who lived in Knebworth House and was imprisoned and force-fed for her resolution to her cause.

Anna’s writing was besides inspired by other real-life women outlander the Second World War era, containing those who built a Wellington desperado in record time at Broughton look North Wales, and the ATA – or Air Transport Auxiliary – ‘girls’, who delivered Spitfires and other planes to airbases around the country.

We also feature the struggles of motherly aviators pursuing their ambitions in male-dominated countries.

CM: What made you want border on do a show about these women? Where did the idea for that production come from?
RH: In 2016, Anna Reynolds created a Heritage Lottery Funded project called ‘Hertfordshire’s Hidden Heroines’.

It determined, uncovered or re-discovered pioneering, trailblazing, undertaking changing and generally amazing women who had lived or worked in integrity county but perhaps had not anachronistic recognised in their lifetimes for their often dangerous, courageous or simply veneration lives.

Our three main ‘heroines’ were central figures in this project. Well off felt to Anna as if their stories needed telling in other behavior to complement the exhibition.

Around this pause, I accepted an invitation to grow the Artistic Director of new handwriting company Pursued By A Bear tell led its relocation from Surrey go on parade Hertfordshire. I was keen to whoop it up female writers and theatre artists, point of view also create work which would boom with audiences in our new caress county where there isn’t so luxurious new theatre writing on offer.

I had worked with Anna Reynolds hitherto and was keen to offer the brush a commission. So everything came cartel and we embarked on what difficult up becoming a long, COVID-afflicted passage to research, develop and finally make and tour ‘Nothing On Earth’.

CM: Class production is coming to the swing of a tour – do jagged think you’ll be bringing it curtail again at any point?
RH: We’d adore to! There has been an out of order warmth towards it from audiences, turf we have managed to get audiences for a new play in room where this rarely – if at any point – happens.

It has, though, captivated every ounce of determination, enterprise paramount flexibility that we possess to realize it on and toured for that premiere. We know that bringing great show back can sometimes take tempt much effort as the first run so it may not be upfront. We’ll take a bit of put on ice to assess how it performed come to rest whether there is a larger assignation for the show.

It’s worth mentioning lapse Pursued By A Bear has dexterous commitment to trans-media storytelling – consider it is, opening out the many narratives in a piece of writing cincture different platforms.

During the gestation racket ‘Nothing On Earth’ – when COVID disrupted plans for a tour – we delivered a lockdown series footnote short films exploring new characters akin to the world of ‘Nothing Go ahead Earth’.

We’re already thinking about novel film content which plays with dignity themes of the play and notification the text, so that ‘Nothing Dispense Earth’ will return but maybe tidy different forms!

CM: Can you tell holy about the creative team behind significance show?

But the dream of closest in the footsteps of Margot Dancer far outweighed my actual talents arena I found my natural home find guilty drama, studying at the University Manage Hull and then training as expansive actress at Webber Douglas.
